Margaret Constance Noel Jackson (née Hadley): Born 18 December 1898. Died 11 October 1987.

Margaret Jackson started practising Donor Conception in 1937.

In Margaret Jackson’s early days as a fertility ‘doctor’ she used her husband’s sperm, Lawrence (“John”) Nelson Jackson.

One of our DCP’s in our community was created by Margaret Jackson in 1944. We know for a fact that Margaret Jackson used her husband’s sperm to create this DCP.

This means that Margaret Jackson was not the paragon of virtue that the fertility industry likes to claim and Margaret Jackson was culpable for fertility fraud. We also know that Margaret Jackson not only used her husband’s sperm and lied to Recipient Parents about it but she also used both of her son’s sperm and lied about that too.

Margaret Jackson charged Intending Parents five guineas (£5.25) per visit right through till she gave up working. Just for context, in 1955, the milk marketing board charged £8 for artificial insemination of cows.

We have also heard from a historical donor who donated in 1980 and who knew Margaret Jackson in a professional capacity, that she loved boats and always paid for her boats in cash. Wads and wads of cash that she pulled out from her bra. Wads and wads of cash that she made creating DCP.
