Definition of Terms for Donors

Anonymous Donors

Anyone conceived before August 1991 will have an anonymous donor.

Using an anonymous Donor is unethical.

Using an anonymous Donor, in any capacity and regardless of when identity release is made available, is NOT in the best interests of the DCP.

Known Donors

Known Donors are donors that are known to the Recipient Parents.

This is still an unethical way to create a Donor Conceived Person (DCP), a human being.

Open Donors

Having an Open Donor that is involved in the Donor Conceived Persons life (DCP) and whom the DCP sees regularly, including seeing the Donors extended family, is the only way to ethically create a DCP, a human being.
