Oocyte Donation

Oocyte Donation is a process where a fertile woman volunteers to donate her eggs to other women to be used as donor eggs in their IVF cycle if they are unable to produce eggs. Oocyte donation can take place the following ways:

• A willing female donor undergoes part of the IVF cycle (Oocyte stimulation) to produce many eggs which are then extracted and stored to be used immediately or at a later date.
• A couple/individual patient undergoing IVF cycle can choose to donate her excess eggs to another patient/couple to be used immediately or at a later date
•  A couple/individual patient who has their eggs in cryo-storage can choose to donate their stored eggs to another patient/couple.

An oocyte is an immature egg cell.
