The term “Snowflake baby” was coined in reference to unused frozen embryos (left over from other couples’ attempts to conceive through in vitro fertilization) that have been embryo “adopted” by families. These embryos are donated by couples who have completed their families and are seeking to “help” others build their families through embryo adoption.
